Bolton sit second in League One, just 6 points behind the leaders Sheffield United after playing 41 games so far this season on 79 points.

The leaders Sheffield United  who have also played 41 games have been excellent so far, cruising their way to the top of the table in hope to return to the Championship currently on 85 points.

When the two sides met more recently Sheffield United came out on top winning the game 2-0 at Bramble lane however earlier on in the season Bolton beat the blades 1-0 with a goal from former Liverpool man Jay Spearing at the Macron to settle the differences.

Both sides have had a good season as it stands however it looks set to be a two horse race between the two for the remainder of the season as Fleetwood who sit in third are 7 points behind Bolton on 72 points also after playing the same amount of games.

However it looks like Bolton are the only team likely enough to beat the blades to the title with 5 games left to play.

Bolton will be looking to top scorer and English midfielder Josh Vela who is on 9 goals to help them catch Sheffield United in order to win the title.

Bolton’s also have a massive game coming up against Bury in what is a must win game against their local rivals.

This could turn out to be one of Bolton’s biggest games of the season if results go their way in the chase to catch up and getting 3 points would be crucial.

Winning this game would put them in a good position, pretty much guaranteeing them promotion and putting the pressure onto Chris Wilder’s men.

Therefore with some recent good form of Bolton unbeaten in their last 9 games, winning 6, drawing 3 and scoring 19.

After Bolton recently beating Fleetwood 2-4 away from home, giving them that point cushion, there is no saying that they cannot win the remainder of their games and hope that Sheffield united slip up in the chase for the title.
