Bolton cruised to a 3-0 win over Peterborough which saw them seal automatic promotion to the Championship.

Goals from Jem Karacan, David Wheater and Adam Le Fondre got the promotion party started.

Bolton knew a draw would be good enough to promotion but it got even better for them after Jem Karacan broke the deadlock on 22 minutes.

There was still a few nerves as Posh pushed for an equaliser but the nerves were settled after Wheater headed home his ninth goal of the season.

Le Fondre then sealed promotion 15 minutes before time.

In what was a season that wasn’t as comfortable as Bolton first thought they got the job done.

Promotion first time of asking was important for Bolton due to the recent money troubles and they will be hoping this can help rebuild the team.

Phil Parkinson is hoping this can turn the club into a more stable one after only under a year ago they were faced with winding up orders.

Bolton finished 2nd on 86 points, 14 points of first and four points above 3rd.

Players, staff and fans will be glad to see promotion secured and will be looking to strengthen this team and progress again next year.
