According to Sky sports United have made Kasper Schmeichel their number one priority should David De Gea leave in the summer.
The 30-year-old Danish international is son of former Manchester united great Peter and was brought up as a Man Utd fan and was able to witness the famous 1999 season.
Kasper signed a new 5 year deal last summer but may struggle to turn down a lucrative offer from United this time.
David De Gea who has just been voted in PFA team of the year for the fourth time cites Kasper’s father as his hero.
In a recent interview Kasper Schmeichel admitted he still supports United and always looks for their results and still wants them to do well.
Kasper was an outstanding performer in Leicester’s title-winning season and in what has been a disappointing season this time round he has shined once again and kept them in many games especially in the Champions League.
Schmeichel has kept 7 clean sheets this season while last season was only beaten by current Man Utd goalkeeper De Gea for clean sheets.
It may be a surprise that United are looking at Schmeichel but he has settled very well in to Premier League football and has many attributes that could see him follow in his father’s footsteps.
